The Bonita Project

This past week FIU PRSSA had Danielle Alvarez, founder of The Bonita Project as a special guest speaker. Prior to taking the leap and founding The Bonita Project, Danielle was a publicist for AlisonBrod PR in New York City where she worked with mass and prestige beauty and lifestyle brands.

Starting her career in the rise of social media 10 years ago when Instagram was mainly used as a photo editing tool Danielle had to learn and grow at the same speed as social media was. Living in Miami Danielle felt would limit her potential to grow and she felt the need to do more as well as to learn more when she decided to take the chance and move to New York City.

In New York, Danielle helped set up an entire division focused on multicultural media and influencers throughout the U.S. When she realized that the media landscape was quickly evolving, but the way brands approached multicultural audiences was not, she knew it was time to create her own agency.

Inspired by J. Balvin's hit, Danielle began "The Bonita Project" in 2018. The agency is an integrated marketing/PR and influencer agency with a mission to change how beauty brands engage with multicultural communities and highlight women's beauty.

After taking the chance to leave her daily job and follow her dream and founded her own agency few of the relationships she made worked in her favor and brands even followed her on this venture. Now her clients include Alamar Cosmetics, Botanika Beauty, Kubra Kay, and even Clinique to name a few. Danielle specifically targets female-founded brands.

Join us this following Monday @ 7:00 PM and see what amazing internships our PRSSA members have had the opportunity to land.
